Centers of Excellence
University Community Hospital—named for its proximity to the University of South Florida and for its charter as a not-for-profit, community hospital—opened its doors in 1968. The hospital was built to serve the general medical and surgical needs of the growing north Tampa area.
Since it opened, the hospital has grown to become a 963-bed regional health care system, University Community Health, with four locations spanning Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties:
357 beds at University Community Hospital, 3100 East Fletcher Avenue, Tampa
120 beds at UCH-Carrollwood, 7171 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa
118 beds at Pepin Heart Hospital & Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, 3100 E. Fletcher Avenue, Tampa
168 beds at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, 1395 S. Pinellas Avenue, Tarpon Springs
University Community Health provides strategic medical care through the development of specialized Centers of Excellence that focus resources on major disease areas including cardiac care, cancer treatment, women's health, pediatrics, diabetes management and orthopaedics.
