Orthopaedic Care Units
Inpatient Care
After surgery, a specially trained interdisciplinary team of health care professionals plan, provide, and evaluate the care of the orthopaedic patients. Surgeons, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other clinicians provide patient care, education, and guidance using procedure-specific clinical pathways that are based on best-practice models.

Individualized Rehabilitation Services
Individuals with spinal disorders, sports or work-related injuries, arthritis and bone or joint disorders find quality care in the Orthopaedic Care Center's comprehensive rehabilitation program. The comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit provides intensive, individualized clinical care, therapy and education.

Training Camp
At University Community Hospital and UCH-Carrollwood, we have developed a unique group care approach called Training Camp to facilitate recovery from total hip or total knee replacement surgery. After an initial physical therapy evaluation, Training Camp participants work twice a day with a group of other total hip and total knee replacement patients to practice exercises and daily living skills. The group learns about care techniques to help speed recovery and the activities are led by physical therapy and nursing staff. Patients who participate in Training Camp programs generally resume normal functions more quickly and enjoy the challenge and experience of group rehabilitation. After a patient is discharged, outpatient services in physical, occupational and speech therapy are offered at the UCH Health Park or professional home health therapists can provide care in the comfort of the patient's home.
