Pediatric Education & Support Services
The staff of the Pediatric Care Center provides ongoing bedside health education for parents throughout their child's stay. When special procedures are required, such as blood glucose monitoring or insulin injection, group classes are available for parent education. In addition, the Social Work Services Department offers a variety of support services for families including:
-
Identification of community or health agencies for assistance with medical and financial needs
-
Supportive counseling to help alleviate the stress you may feel or provide problem-solving assistance when coping may seem difficult
-
Home health assistance for medical, physical/speech therapy and clinical services
-
Connections, a health and assistance network that brings patients and professionals together to meet various needs
-
Financial referrals, if the need arises
-
Chaplin services.
Pediatric physicians and nurses advise parents on services their child may need and arrange Social Work assistance. Parents may also call and speak to a member of the Social Work Department with concerns and questions. They can be reached at (813) 615-7268.
