The Women's Center at University Community Hosptial has been delivering babies into families of the Tampa Bay area since 1990. The staff at The Women's Center deliver more than 3,000 babies every year and are dedicated to making chilbirth a wonderful and happy experience for the mother and her entire family.

Labor and Delivery/Triage
The Women's Center LDR/Triage Unit consists of ten labor/delivery/recovery suites with a six-bed triage area. Comprehensive obstetric services including anesthesiology, perinatology and neonatology are available 24-hours a day. Highly skilled professional nurses and physicians are qualified to handle obstetric emergencies. Many of the nurses are certified in obstetric nursing and all are neonatal resuscitation providers. A ten-bed Perinatal Unit is designed for high-risk antepartum services.

Mother/Baby Unit
20-bed Mother/Baby Unit is a maternal/newborn service caring for women with vaginal and cesarean births and well newborns (sick newborns are taken to
NICU ). All staff is cross-trained for the Mother/Baby Unit and NICU. Many of the nurses are certified in maternal and newborn health care and all are neonatal resuscitation providers. Also providing services at The Women's Center are lactation consultants, perinatologists, neonatologists, a neonatal nurse practitioner, and counselors for bereavement. Childbirth education programs are offered by certified educators.

For parents who deliver via c-section, we offer couplet care, which allows the newborn to stay with mom and dad during mom's recovery process. We feel this early bonding is extremely important and are proud to be the only facility in Tampa to offer it.
